Cusco Hotel Transfer
This 2 day tour to Machu Picchu begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. Then in our private transport, we will be driving you along the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Ollantaytambo train station. From here, you will be boarding the train to Aguas Calientes.
It will be a two hours train journey, where you will have an enchanting view of the Urubamba River snaking through Andean villages and farmlands. Once in Aguas Calientes, our representative will escort you to the hotel.
You will have some free time to explore the town. Alternatively, you can visit the renowned hot springs after which the town is named. There is also an interesting museum of Machu Picchu. Later in the evening, our local expert will be meeting you at the hotel in Aguas Calientes to brief you on the following day’s itinerary.
We will be leaving quite early in the morning to visit the Machu Picchu. The hotel crew will be handing over a snack box. Then we will be taking the bus up to the main entrance of the citadel. This will be 25 minute uphill drive.
Once at the entrance of the citadel, our local expert will assist you in passing the security control. Your ticket will be verified against your original passport. Often we are among the first group to enter as you will have the opportunity to witness the sunrise here.
We will give you a two hours guided tour of the emblematic Incan ruins. On this tour, we will introduce you to different parts of the complex. You will be visiting the remains of royal quarters and Inca temples. Our guide will walk you through the ceremonial sites, and farming terraces among other significant sites.
After the tour of the archaeological site, you will have some free time to explore the citadel on your own. If you have booked your climb to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will be directing you to the entrance.
Please note, you must book your tickets to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain in advance. The permits are often sold out months in advance. It is highly recommended that you advise us at the time of booking the tour.
From the summit, you will get a panoramic view. You will get to see the route that Hiram Bingham took when he rediscovered Machu Picchu.
Alternatively, you can hike to Sun Gate. It requires no pre-booking. Sun Gate offers a unique view of the Inca ruin. Those on Inca Trail to Machu Picchu enter the citadel from here.
It takes two hours to hike back and forth from the citadel to Sun Gate.
Later, we will be taking the bus back to Aguas Calientes town. From here you will be boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. Our representative will be meeting you at the train station and will transfer you back to the City of Cusco.
A relaxing and a joyful trip to Machu Picchu. Richard organized this trip at a short notice and was economic. The stay in Aguas Calientes was relaxing and the train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and back was an experience on its own. We enjoyed a lot
Thanks to Machu Picchu Amazon Peru for making this excursion to Machu Picchu a truly memorable experience. The customer service was excellent, especially Richard who kept constant communication to help us get on a tour as we speak barely any Spanish. He texted us the day before to confirm the pick-up time. They picked us promptly at 07:00 AM. Everything was spectacular.
Richard from Machu Picchu Amazon Peru was our first point of contact as we booked this tour. He was very helpful and super nice. The night before the tour he visited us and explained all the things in details which was very helpful. The pick up was on time as scheduled and advised by Richard. The driver was very safe on the route to Ollantaytambo where there are lots of switchbacks. The guide who walked with us in the citadel of Incas, Machu Picchu was very informative. We thank Richard and Machu Picchu Amazon Peru for exhibiting such professional service to us.
