Day 1Cusco - Aguas Calientes

We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then in our private transport, we will be driving you along the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo train station. From here, you will be boarding the train to Aguas Calientes.

It will be a two hours train journey, where you will have an enchanting view of Urubamba river snaking through Andean villages and farmlands. Once in Aguas Calientes, our representative will escort you to the hotel.

You will have some free time to explore the town. Alternatively, you can visit the renowned hot springs after which the town is named. There is also an interesting museum of Machu Picchu. Later in the evening, our local expert will be meeting you at the hotel to brief you on the following day’s itinerary.

Day 2Aguas Calientes - Cusco

We will be leaving quite early in the morning to visit the Machu Picchu. The hotel crew will be handing over a snack box. Then we will be taking the bus up to the main entrance of the citadel. This will be a 25 minutes uphill drive.

Once at the entrance of the citadel, our local expert will assist you in cleaning the security control. Often we are among the first group to enter as you will have the opportunity to witness the sunrise here.

We will give you a two hours guided tour of the emblematic Incan ruins. On this tour, we will introduce you to different parts of the complex. You will be visiting the remains of royal quarters and Inca temples. Our guide will walk you through the ceremonial sites, farming terraces among other significant sites.

After the tour, you will have some free time to explore the citadel on your own. If you have booked your climb to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will be directing you to the entrance.

Please note, you must book your tickets to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain in advance. We request you to advise us at the time of booking the tour.

Alternatively, you can hike to Sun Gate. It requires no pre booking. Sun Gate offers a unique view of the Inca ruin. Those on Inca Trail enter the citadel from here.

It takes two hours to hike back and forth from the citadel to Sun Gate.

Later, we will be taking the bus back to Aguas Calientes town. From here you will be boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. Our representative will be meeting you at the train station and will transfer you back to Cusco.
