If you are looking for the cheapest option to visit Machu Picchu, then this is the best option. Our two days trip from Cusco to Machu Picchu by bus includes all the essentials to make your experience hassle free.
Aguas Calientes, the town that serves as a gateway to the Incan citadel has no direct road access from Cusco. Hence, we drive you along the Sacred Valley of Incas to Hidro Electrica. This is the last village on the road from Cusco to Machu Picchu.
From Hidro Electrica, it is a two and a half hours walk along the train tracks to the town of Aguas Calientes. This is the same route that Hiram Bingham III took when he rediscovered Machu Picchu.
The way you will be hiking is very scenic and offers spectacular views of the tropical region. If you are not sure of hiking, you can also take a train from Hidro Electrica Train Station to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). Both Peru Rail and Inca Rail operate on this route and cost 40 USD per person, one way.
We highly recommend this two days tour if you are looking for the safest yet the cheapest way to reach Machu Picchu.
