Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Cusco - Cusco Tour

Our representative will be meeting you at the airport and will transfer you to your hotel in Cusco. We highly recommend that you choose a morning flight from Lima as we begin the City tour at 01:00 PM.

We will be starting the Cusco City Tour by driving you to the Incas Sun Temple, Qorikancha. This was one of the most sacred sites of the Incas. The patio here once had numerous statues made of gold. Our guide will walk you through the temple and explain how the Spanish rule changed the structures of the revered temple of Incas.

We will then drive you in our private transport to Sacsayhuaman. The massive Inca fortress is perched on a hilltop overlooking Cusco city. It was built by Pachacutec. The sites have massive stones each weighing over 100 tons. The Incas did not use mortars; instead, they cut these stones finely and joined them.

We will then visit the archeological complex of Q’enqo. It was a prominent site during the Inca civilization The Incas did scarifications and mummifications here.

Tambomachay was a spa to the Incan political elite. There are several canals here which are linked with nearby natural hot springs. Although the site was built decades ago, these canals are still in use.

We will then visit Puca Pucara. The name in Quechua means Red Fort. The Incas safely guarded Cusco against here. It derived its name from the color of the rock which was used to build the site. At dusk, with the reflection of the sun, the rock transforms to a red color.

After visiting Puca Pucara, we will drive you back to Cusco City.

Day 2Sacred Valley Machu Picchu Tour

We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco at 0700 AM. Then in our private transport, we will be driving to explore the Sacred Valley of Incas.

Chinchero:

The experience starts with a morning drive to Chincheros. It is a small village. Locals here have preserved their traditions of weaving. Historically, Chinchero was home to the summer palace of Pachacutec.

The archeological site boasts carefully designed agricultural terraces and aqueducts built by Incas. Most of them are in use even today. There is a white-washed church overlooking the valley. This was built by Spanish conquistadors on the remains of the Incas Royal Palace.

Maras:

We will then drive to Maras Salt Mines. These are geometrically shaped puddles nestled on a slope of a hill.

Locals feed these puddles with water from the nearby hot springs. When the water evaporates naturally it leaves behind salt crystals. They scrape them out manually. This is a tradition that is passed down from generation to generation.

Moray:

Our next stop will be at Moray. The village houses circular farming terraces. These terraces are massive holes dug into the ground. It has different levels.

Each level has a different temperature. There is a difference of 15 degrees from the top to the bottom of the terrace.

The Incas experimented with the growth conditions of crops here. Moray was like an agricultural laboratory to the Incas.

Urubamba:

Then we will stop in Urubamba for lunch.

Ollantaytambo:

We will continue to Ollantaytambo. It is a village that demonstrates the town planning of the Incas. The village is sandwiched between two Inca ruins. Our professional guide will give you a detailed tour here.

Aguas Calientes:

Then you will be boarding the train to Aguas Calientes train station. It will be a scenic ride. On this journey, you will witness the change in the landscape from snow-capped Andean peaks to tropical forests.

In Aguas Calientes Machu Picchu Town, we will accommodate you in an ensuite hotel room.

Day 3Machu Picchu Tour

At daybreak, you will be taking a bus to Machu Picchu. We will assist you in entering the citadel. Our local expert will give you a two hours guided tour of the Inca citadel. On this tour, you will be visiting the remains of Inca royal quarters, temples, ceremonial sites, farming terraces, and more.

After the half-day tour, you will have some free time to explore the citadel on your own. If you have tickets to climb Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu mountain our guide will direct you to the respective entrance. You will need a permit to hike which is often sold out six to seven months in advance.

Alternatively, you can hike to Sun Gate. This is the way how those on the Inca trail enter Inca City. It offers a spectacular view of the citadel.

Then you will be taking the bus back to Aguas Calientes town. Here you will have some free time to have lunch if desired. Then you will be boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo train station.

Our representative will be meeting you at the train station and will be transferring you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 4Rainbow Mountain Tour (Vinicunca)

We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco at 0400 AM. Then we will drive you to Cusipata. It is a two hours drive from Cusco. We will have a brief stop there for breakfast.

Then we will continue our drive to the starting point of the trek. On our way, we will be crossing the checkpoint where the community officials would collect the entrance fees. Once we reach the base camp, our guide will give you a detailed briefing and will share some tips on hiking. If you are feeling tired, you can rent a horse from here.

The way up takes you through the captivating sight of the Andes. Once at the summit, you will have some free time to immerse yourself in the tranquility and click photos.

Once you have had your fill of the view, we will start our hike back to the starting point of the trek. Our driver will meet us at the car park and will drive to Cusipata. Here we will stop for lunch. After lunch, we will drive back to Cusco.
