Full Day Tour to Sacred Valley Ruins - Cusco Sacred Valley Tour

Cusco Sacred Valley Tour takes you to the three prime archaeological sites of Incan Empire, Chinchero, Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Full Day Tour to Sacred Valley Ruins along with Cusco city tour offers a good introduction to Incan civilization.

Pisac:

Pisac is a small village near Cusco. It is home to an ancient Inca ruins and weekend market. The Inca site here is massive and is just second to Machu Picchu. The archaeological complex is one of the prominent sites of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

The site comprises agricultural terraces, ceremonial centres, Inca temples among other sites. It is located on a hilltop overlooking the valley.

The weekend market is one of the things you cannot miss. It sprawls at the main square of Pisac. Farmers and craftsmen from the nearby village set their tents to sell their products. If you want to pick up souvenirs from Peru, then this is the place.

Ollantaytambo:

It is a living example of Incas village planning. Sandwiched between two archaeological ruins, the village is the oldest continuously occupied dwellings in South America. The battle of Ollantaytambo that took place in 1537 completely changed the fate of Incas.

The village played a significant role during the Inca civilization. Under the leadership of Manco Inca II, Incas constructed many buildings here. The stones were transported from the nearby quarry in Cachicata.

In the modern world, Ollantaytambo is the jump off point to Inca Trail. If you are visiting Machu Picchu by train then you will be boarding the train to Aguas Calientes from here.

Chinchero:

It is a small rustic Andean village a 45 minutes drive away from Cusco. Chinchero was built as a country resort by Pachacutec. The soil here is the most fertile among all the Sacred Valley of Incas.

There is a small white washed church up in the hill overlooking the village. This was  once the site of the Inca palace of Pachacutec. Upon conquering Chinchero, the Spaniards demolished the palace and built the church on its remains.

Local people here are popular for weaving sweaters, bags, purses among others using Alpaca wools. Chinchero is the centre of weaving in Peru.
