On the first day of our Manu National Park Peru tour, we will pick you up around 5:00 AM from your hotel in Cusco. Our journey begins with a visit to the pre-Inca burial towers of Ninamarca. We will then drive through the mountains, reaching Tres Cruces, the highest point and entrance to the Manu National Park. This area is one of the most protected natural areas in South America.
From Tres Cruces, we will continue into the Cloud Forest. Here, we will spend about three hours exploring the fog-laden landscape. We will observe Peru’s national bird, the cock of the rock, and the largest monkey in Peru, the woolly monkey. As we walk, we will encounter a variety of bromeliads and beautiful orchids. On a lucky day, we might even see the elusive Andean Bear (Tremarctos ornatus) and many other exotic birds like the Blue-banded Toucanet, Golden-headed Quetzal, and Crested Quetzal.
In the late afternoon, we will arrive at our selected accommodation, Amazon Pona Lodge. After settling in, we will embark on a night walk into the jungle. This optional expedition will give us a chance to see tarantulas, various spiders, poisonous frogs, tree frogs, snakes, night monkeys, giant armadillos, and boas. We will use rubber boots for our safety during this night exploration.

After an early breakfast, we will explore the trail system in the jungle. On this part of the trail, you will listen to the amazing sounds of birds like macaws, woodpeckers, toucans, and parrots. We will learn about medicinal plants and have the chance to see many species of monkeys, including squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys, titi monkeys, and howler monkeys. We will also visit a small lake, where we will take a wooden balsa to observe a variety of wildlife such as the prehistoric hoatzin bird, cormorants, herons, and kingfishers.
After lunch, we will have time to swim and fish in the river. The cool waters will provide a refreshing break and a unique way to experience the jungle. In the afternoon, we will start our journey back to Cusco. We will drop you off at your hotel, concluding our remarkable two-day adventure in the Manu Biosphere.
