After a while. We’ll arrive at Tres Cruces. Here you want to catch the sunrise. The views of the sunrise here are amazing no matter what. But to witness the 3 crosses of the sun, you need luck and a clear sky.

We’ll then descend into the Manu Cloud Forest. Here, we’ll spend two hours exploring the area. If you are lucky, you’ll encounter the Cock of the Rock.

By reaching Pilcopata our drive is almost over. Our day ends at the Amazon Jungle lodge.

Day 2Exploring Alto Madre de Dios

This day you will have the chance to enjoy the Manu hot springs. We’ll return to our lodge for a typical lunch.

You’ll have free time before a night tour around the lodge.

Day 3Macaw Clay Licks and Casa Matsiguenka

Our early start of the day will be due to our visit to the famous macaw clay licks. After this wonderful spectacle. We’ll return to our lodge for breakfast.

Next you’ll go on a boat ride on the Manu River. Here you may see black caimans and turtles basking on top of the water.

We’ll pass a control point at the Limonal station (as part of every Manu reserved zone tours). We’ll arrive at Casa Matsiguenka lodge.

The afternoon includes a visit to the oxbow lakes, with a possible sighting of giant river otters. We’ll return to the Casa Matsiguenka Lodge. You can opt for a night tour through the jungle.

Day 4Deep Dive into Manu’s Biosphere Reserve

We’ll have a breakfast prepared with native ingredients. After which we’ll explore the pristine forest of the Manu Biosphere Reserve. This will be the most complete explorations of flora and fauna in our Manu Peru Tour.

For lunch, we’ll have a picnic like lunch in the forest. Post-lunch, we’ll have the Catamaran trip to observe the oxbow lakes in the lowland rainforest.

Spend another night at Casa Matsigenka at the end of the day.

Day 5Cultural Interaction and Evening Fun

After breakfast we’ll leave Casa Matsiguenka. A boat ride will take us to Boca Manu. Before reaching Boca Manu, we’ll then visit the Diamante native community. You’ll be able to engage with locals and their culture.

In the evening, we’ll have a bonfire barbecue. Enjoy some meat and beverages as well as the social interaction.

Day 6Return to Cusco

Our final day begins after breakfast. A boat ride will take us back to Atalaya Port.

From there, a bus will pick us up. This is how our Cusco Manu journey comes to an end.

There is no word to express my gratitude to Richard and his team who were amazing on my Amazon trip. It’s a vast region and there are many animals and birds and plants and trees in there. The guide as a local knew a lot about these things and was informal and good at explaining them. I can totally recommend them.
