Inkilltambo Trek is a fantastic experience. On this full day hike, you will be visiting some of the iconic archaeological sites off the city of Cusco and to Inkilltambo.
This is a true hidden gem near Sacsayhuaman. The tour starts with a visit to the sacred temple of Monkeys. It then continues to the Temple of the moon and then to Inkilltambo.
The name originates from the Quechua term. It means “Incas Prison”. However, the complex was not a prison, instead it was a place where the Incan messengers used to rest while travelling around the Inca empire.
It was built by the renowned Inca emperor, Wiracocha. His son, Pachacutec later did expansion work. This was one of the many Inca sites that lost its identity upon Spanish conquest.
Thanks to the recent restoration work, gradually people are knowing about its existence.
At Machu Picchu Amazon Peru, we have local tour guides for this tour. They have an extensive knowledge about history. Our guides are trained on first aid.
